The Associated Students of the University of Washington is the democratic voice of students that engages the campus community through programming, services, and advocacy. ASUW strives to enrich student life and develop future leaders. ASUW is composed of 25 units, including entities, enterprises, commissions, programs, and committees. Operating with a budget of approximately one million dollars, 72 employees and over 500 volunteers work to serve students and improve student life.

Some of the services provided by the ASUW include Arts & Entertainment and Bike Shop. ASUW also provides funding each year for allocation to registered student organizations (RSOs) for their event programming needs.

In addition to services and event funding, the ASUW advocates on students’ behalf by sitting on University and faculty committees, lobbying state and national lawmakers, and working closely with faculty, administration and community leaders.
