Welcome Home: HUB opens with limited operations
The Husky Union Building (HUB) is now open, welcoming the UW community back to the building with a primary focus on providing space for informal learning. Although building capacity has been reduced to support physical distancing, there are more than 200 seats available for individual UW community members to comfortably access WiFi for classes, studying, and work. Access to the HUB is limited to UW students, faculty, and staff using your Husky Card and to non-UW guests with previously scheduled appointments to any of the HUB offices during specified hours of operation using the North Entrance (near the N22 parking lot and ASUW Bike Shop). Learn more about visiting the HUB before you arrive to understand building policies, including attestations, face coverings, and physical distancing.
Many services and offices within the HUB remain closed in person, but are still available remotely. The HUB Information Desk is available for questions via text (206-594-2325) and email (hubres@uw.edu). All meetings and events originally scheduled have been cancelled through December 31, 2020 and the HUB is only accepting space requests for essential University business until further notice. HUB Games will open September 28 with limited play available to UW community members and following WA State guidelines for recreational play. As of November 17, HUB Games is closed for the remainder of Autumn Quarter.
For seventy one years, the HUB has served the University of Washington as the student union and a space for community building for all of UW. The need to build community is greater than ever, and much of that will happen through the Student Activities Office support of ASUW, GPSS, and more than 1,000 Registered Student Organizations. Students are encouraged to find and join these organizations through the RSO Directory. The HUB also serves as a repository of information for hundreds of student events hosted by UW departments and student organizations. Visit our calendar of student events and activities to learn more.
The staff of the HUB are thrilled to support the Husky Experience both in-person and virtually throughout the 2020-2021 academic year. We hope that all students, faculty, and staff continue to feel welcomed, cared about, and inspired to engage throughout this unique year.
Best wishes, Huskies!
