Welcome home! The HUB is open with limited operations as an informal learning space for individual UW students, faculty, and staff. There are more than 200 seats available for UW community members to comfortably access WiFi for classes, studying, and work. Reservations are not required for UW students, faculty, staff to visit the HUB.
Before your visit, please review the information below so you know what to expect and can help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
Building Polices
Along with our normal Building Access & Use Policies and Community Standards, and as a part of our COVID-19 Prevention Plan and Safe Start requirements, we have implemented additional building policies to ensure the safety of our visitors and staff.
If you are not following building policies for COVID-19 prevention, you may be asked to leave the HUB. The HUB Building Manager on duty has the authority to enforce these policies and deny facility access.
Husky Card
- Have your Husky Card available at all times.
- The HUB is only accessible with your Husky Card during specified hours of operation.
Symptom Self-Attestation
- You must sign a symptom-free attestation document when you enter the HUB.
- UW employees – Workday online
- All other visitors – HUB Attestation Log at entrance
- If you are sick or experiencing mild symptoms of illness, you are not permitted in the HUB.
Face Coverings
- Face coverings are required at all times within the HUB.
- Coverings should cover your mouth and nose.
Physical Distancing
- Practice physical distancing regulations of 6-feet.
- Seating is set for physical distancing and furniture is not permitted to be moved.
- No more than two people may ride in an elevator at the same time, facing the same direction. Individuals using assisted mobility devices have priority.
- Follow building signage for instructions, including capacity, line management, seating options, and traffic flow.
Access & Check-In
Access
Access to the HUB is only available using the North Entrance (near the N22 parking lot and ASUW Bike Shop) for UW students, faculty, staff, and non-UW guests with previously scheduled appointments. To maintain safety and security, all visitors must enter and exit using the North Entrance.

Check-In
- Before entering the HUB, tap your Husky Card on the card reader outside the North Entrance. The light will turn green and the doors will unlock.
- Each person must tap their Husky Card on the card reader for access.
- Non-UW guests with previously scheduled appointments can call the HUB Building Manager at 206-499-3220 for access when on site.
- At the Check-In Table:
- Review the COVID-19 symptom list and sign the symptom-free attestation log (UW employees use Workday online)
- Review the HUB’s building policies
- Sign the check-in log
- Take a sticker and place in a visible location on your clothing

During Your Visit
Food and Drink
Food can only be eaten in designated areas. At the Check-In Table, review the Available Spaces board, so you know which spaces are designated for eating during your visit. Face coverings may be removed while eating food in designated areas.
The Husky Den Food Court, including Etc. and Starbucks, are closed until further notice. Review Housing & Food Services’ Service and Operations Updates to find the closest available dining locations on campus, including Microsoft Cafe, Center Table, and the Starbucks Coffee Truck.
Prepackaged snacks and drinks are available at HUB Games (Basement) and the vending machines (Ground Floor behind Starbucks/Southwest Dining).
Restrooms and Water Fountains
Follow signage instructions for restrooms, including capacity, line management graphics, and temporarily unavailable facilities within the restrooms to maintain physical distancing.
Water fountains are available and we encourage you to bring your own bottle and use the water bottle filling station. Water fountains are sanitized and disinfected regularly.
Cleaning & Disinfecting
The HUB follows COVID-19 Enhanced Cleaning and Disinfection Protocols and uses peroxide-based EPA-registered disinfectants. Our daytime custodial team focuses on high-touch surfaces (door knobs/handles, light switches, counter tops, stair handrails, banisters, and elevator controls). Our evening custodial team conducts a building-wide clean each night.
