Bubba’s Bulletin – Spring 2019
Pure, unadulterated joy…with a twinge of sadness. The end of yet another school year is upon us and in just a matter of weeks, campus will be filled with students in cap and gown, with their families in tow. It’s a wonderful time of year because many of our student leaders (GPSS, ASUW, RSOs, student employees, etc.) are graduating and beginning the next phases of their lives. As much as I hate to admit it, there really is life beyond campus and the HUB, but what a gift it has been to play a small part in the mentoring, advising, and supporting these leaders. I consider myself especially lucky to have formed some relationships that will extend into the years to come, but what’s even more important is that our student leaders (whether or not they’re graduating) are learning more about themselves as people and leaders, plus creating lasting friendships and ties.
The pride I get from observing all of our leaders gives me hope for the future. And after some gratefully slower weeks in July and August, I know for certain that I’ll be eager to welcome our incoming leaders for both of our student governments and start another year of leadership and community.
Until next time, don’t forget to keep in touch via social media, text, or email.
Cheers, ya’ll.
