Sculpted Batholith

George Washington

Artist/s: Savannah Beck

Location: Third Floor hall way by Student Veteran Life

Description: Monuments function to emphasize something cherished and revered. In this painting I am remarking on a common reverence for feminine asthetics. I referenced old photographs of Mount Rushmore’s construction for this piece. This is construction of a monument. Not too a male hero, but of a feminine face with no specific identity.

Composition/materials: Oil on canvas

Year: 2018

Part of series: No

Director’s Award: Yes
