Description: These four paintings were inspired by the first all-race elections that took place in South Africa in April 1994. The long lines of voters stood for hours in order to cast their ballots. Drawing on my memories of having spent 26 years in South Africa, the artist wanted to show the physical and emotional connections between people linked together in a common experience. Issues of connection and relationship underlie all of my work, and communication and contact between people are themes that are repeated throughout these works.
