Updated Operating Protocols – July 2021

The University of Washington recently updated its policies regarding face coverings, vaccination requirements and other COVID-19 protocols. For the past ten months, the HUB has been one of the few buildings to remain open on campus and has maintained a safe and welcoming environment for UW students, faculty, and staff.

Effective Thursday, July 8, the HUB will transition to these updated UW policies. The primary changes that will go into effect include:

  • Face coverings will no longer be required for fully vaccinated individuals
  • There are no physical distancing requirements
  • There is no need to attest upon entering the HUB
  • Eating will be permitted throughout the building

Maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for the UW community is still a top priority and therefore, throughout the summer, the following protocols will remain in effect:

  • Continue limited operations with one entrance (North) for UW students, faculty, and staff; non-UW guests can access the HUB by reservation/appointment for HUB services
  • Guests who are sick or exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms should remain home
  • Face coverings are required at all times if you are not fully vaccinated
  • Plexiglass barriers will remain at service desks
  • Lounge furniture will remain spread out
  • HUB Games will maintain options for physical distanced bowling and gaming
  • High touch surface sanitation will continue throughout the day
  • Deep cleaning sanitation will continue in the evenings

In addition to being required for individuals who are not fully vaccinated, face coverings are still welcome and encouraged for anyone who wishes. We also ask that everyone be respectful of others physical distancing preferences.

Please remember that as restrictions are lifted, there are members of our community who may still be unable to be vaccinated, whose medical conditions put them at higher risk of infection, and/or are uncomfortable during this transition period. We ask for everyone to be a part of ensuring the HUB is welcoming to all.

Thank you,
