Operations/Access

Is the HUB open? Are offices operating?

The HUB is closed until further notice; however, most HUB offices remain available remotely. Please contact individual offices for information.

When will the building open?

Like all UW buildings, the HUB will remain closed until further notice. There is no known date for opening.

Do employees who work in the HUB have access to their offices?

Employees deemed “essential personnel” by their supervisors, with neighborhood offices/workplaces in the HUB, and with pre-existing card access, are permitted to come to work in the HUB, as long as you are not exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms (primarily fever, cough, trouble breathing, but also includes secondary symptoms per CDC).  Under Governor Inslee’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order, UW has made telework mandatory for all employees who can do so without hampering critical operations.  For, non-essential staff and student leaders with HUB offices who need temporary access to their spaces, please coordinate with Justin Camputaro (jcamp77@uw.edu) and Shalom Murphy (murphs16@uw.edu) for consideration.  The HUB has been disinfected, and to support the safety of the essential staff who are currently working in the building, the objective is to significantly limit people gathering together in the HUB. Those who are in the building must practice social distancing.

Is the HUB still receiving mail/packages?

USPS and Campus Mail will continue to be delivered to the HUB daily. Mail will be picked-up and sorted between 10:30am-12:30pm, Monday-Friday, and available in the Student Activities Office (SAO), HUB 232. Work-related Amazon, FedEx, and UPS deliveries will occur daily between 10:30am-12:30pm. Please make sure you indicate a specific delivery time to the HUB Loading Dock. Instruct delivery services NOT to leave packages on the loading dock. SAO will only be open to retrieve mail between 10:30am-12:30pm, Monday-Friday. This system will be used until we resume normal operations.

How is the HUB cleaned?

The HUB custodial team uses peroxide-based EPA-registered disinfectants.  During the closure, the HUB custodial team has performed a building-wide deep disinfection throughout the open areas, with a heavy focus on frequently touched surfaces (door knobs/handles, light switches, counter tops, stair handrails, banisters, and elevator controls), HUB equipment regularly used by guests and clients, and all furniture/upholstery. Additionally, HUB administration worked with our service providers such as HUB Games, the RSO Resource Center, and the Husky Den Food Court, to ensure similar disinfectant procedures took place.
